You must complete enough quests for the settler and then they will request to join your crew. In villages you will find settlers strolling around the village, some of these settlers will give you quests. Starter ships of each race, except Novakids, are shown below. Each starter ship is basically a rectangle with a decorated exterior and a cockpit. It will have a Flashlight, some torches, and 4 cans of food. Gather the appropriate number of upgrade modules, turn in the quest, and the ship upgrade will be applied. The first time a player opens the shiplocker with a new character, it will contain some basic equipment. This can either be done by getting Crew Members (2, 4, 6, 8, 10) for completing quests for settlers and hiring. These can be found in chests, reward bags, and rarely as monster drops. The amount you need is 2, 4, 6, 8, then 10 respectively for each upgrade. After turning in the quest the players ship size will be expanded and max crew level increased. To upgrade your ship, you'll need Upgrade Modules. The quest requires the player gather 10 Upgrade Modules and deliver them to the shipyard captain east of the outpost.

Starbound How To Use Upgrade Modules Once you’ve recruited enough crew members (2, 4, 6) an overlay will appear showing you license and automatically starting a quest to visit Penguin Pete at The Outpost. Condor Ship Upgrade is a side quest which becomes available after players have recruited ten ship crew members. In order to recruit crew members for your ship, you first must locate a village. I've started to build on my ship, only to realize actually how small it is.In order to repair your ships thrusters and hull, you must obtain 1000 pixels and 20 core fragments. You use commands: /spawnitem shipT1/spawnitem shipT2/spawnitem shipT3/spawnitem shipT4/spawnitem shipT5/spawnitem shipT6/spawnitem shipT7/spawnitem shipT8You need to make sure you are in your ship when you use it and that you use a capital T.
